Abhishek Khurana is a successful business owner based in Toronto, Canada. Having grown up in both India and Canada, Abhi's ability to understand and appreciate multiple perspectives has enabled him to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and find innovative solutions to complex challenges.
Abhi is a distinguished lecturer and expert in the field of HVAC automation. He holds a degree in Mechatronics Engineering and Control Systems from McMaster University. His leadership in the industry is evidenced by his active involvement in ASHRAE, where he has held numerous positions including Toronto Chapter President. He currently serves as the Regional Vice Chair for the Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC). He is also involved with Technical Committee 1.4 – Control Theory and Application.
Abhi began his career as an Account Executive for Trane Technologies, where he honed his skills in presenting and designing HVAC control solutions. He then founded Voyager Buildings, a firm that provides turnkey Building Automation and Artificial Intelligence solutions – from design and installation to programming, commissioning, and training. Abhi's expertise and innovative approach to HVAC control systems has led to him delivering numerous presentations to Engineers, Contractors, Manufacturers, ASHRAE Chapters and Student Branches. Abhi's formal training in improv and stand-up comedy have also proven instrumental in delivering engaging and impactful presentations. His natural flair for public speaking and storytelling has helped him connect with audiences, making his presentations not only informative but also entertaining. He has been actively engaged in presenting to government officials, advocating for sustainable solutions, and raising awareness about the environmental impact of current practices in the HVACR industry in Canada.

Building Automation Systems for Developing Economies – Converting Pneumatic Controls to DDC.
This presentation will commence by giving the audience an understanding of how the Pneumatic vs DDC Controls work and the different ways we can work towards retrofitting Pneumatic with Electronic Controls. This presentation will also discuss some low cost measures which can be put in place (customized to location/weather) for stand-alone or Pneumatic buildings so we can help them walk on the path of decarbonization. The audience will also learn how to design a Building Automation System for new construction projects and how their buildings can benefit from all the features which today’s Building Automation Systems have.
How can Building Automation Systems assist with Decarbonization and your ESGgoals?
This presentation will start by familiarizing the audience with a Building’s Automation System and how it is crucial to run a building smoothly. Then we will dive into the different type of control strategies which we can implement to save operational costs and carbon emissions. The audience will learn how to analyze trend logs and identify issues. We will discuss what ESG is and how the Building’s Automation System impacts the “E” of ESG.
