Thank you very much for the generous sponsorship!!
On behalf of the twelve UVic Engineering students attending and representing us the competition, we are all very excited and grateful to ASHRAE for the support! I have passed along the good news to the twelve UVic delegates who will be competing.
The teams who will be competing at CEC include Asher Barnsdale, Arthur Barnsdale, Victoria Holroyd, and Zarina Guzman, who earned first place at the Western Engineering Competition (WEC), and will be competing in the Senior Design category. Arfaz Hossein, Isaak Wiebe, Shaban Sala, and Abdullah Azeem earned second place at WEC, and will be competing in the Programming category. Nora Keegan, Amy Symes, Lydia Weemes, and Sarah Keegan earned first place at WEC, and the team will be competing with a substitute for Sarah, Marley Goodhew, in the Consulting Engineering category. (Note that Sarah will also be attending CEC, as the Regional Head Delegate for Western Canada)
All of the above competitors earned their place to represent UVic at our local competition, UVEC, back in October - which was also possible due to ASHRAE's continued support of the UVic ECSS. It was amazing meeting you, Calvin, there as well as Karl and the ASHRAE team. Exciting to see how far our competitors have come since then!
Last year at CEC 2025, UVic was the most successful engineering school in the nation. At CEC 2025, made possible thanks to generous donations from the community, UVic was also able to send 12 delegates to the competition. UVic was the only university in the country to bring home two gold medals, along with an additional award! It was an incredible and proud moment for our students, and for the University of Victoria Engineering program. This year, we are looking to keep this momentum going by sending another twelve engineering students to attend this competition. It is unique that these many competitors earn their spot to compete at such as prestigious national competition, especially in back-to-back years, and the ECSS is extremely thankful to all our sponsors so that we can provide these students the same opportunity to represent our university and engineering program.
I'll make sure to get some pictures of the teams competing at CEC 2026 from March 20-23, and pass those on to you! I'll also provide an update of how our teams do at the competition.
Cheers and have a great rest of your week!
