Chartered in 1985, the Vancouver Island Chapter is located on the west coast of Canada in Victoria, BC. Our chapter membership consists of HVAC&R Professionals from Victoria, Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley, the Comox Valley and the Gulf Islands.

About Region XI

In 1979 Region II and Region X were split to give birth to Region XI, a geographical area of 1.89 million square miles, covering the Provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, & Manitoba in Canada and the State of Washington, Oregon and Northern Idaho. Region XI has 12 chapters and 3,000 members.

The scale of Region XI can best be understood by realizing that it includes three time zones, and that the flying distance separating our farthest Chapters is 3,200 miles. These distances, however, are no deterrent to visitors as our moderate coastal climate and many attractions make Chapter 145 an exciting place to visit.

About ASHRAE

ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers is an international organization of 56,000 members from over 132 nations throughout the world. The Society is organized for the sole purpose of advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration for the public's benefit through research, standards writing, continuing education and publications.

Through its membership, ASHRAE writes standards that set uniform methods of testing and rating equipment and establish accepted practices for the HVAC&R industry worldwide, such as the design of energy efficient buildings. The Society's research program, currently more than 100 research projects worth nearly $8 million, investigates numerous issues, such as identifying new refrigerants that are environmentally safe. ASHRAE organizes broad-based technical programs for presentation at its semiannual meetings and co-sponsors the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition, the largest HVAC&R trade show in North America.
